EPP 221 – County Councillor Mrs Eldrydd Jones

As member of the Montgomeryshire Against Pylons Group, I support the call for the revision of TAN 8 for the following reasons:

• The total disregard for the visual amenity of the area, without an environmental study undertaken.

• No assessment of the effects on flooding in the area – my own ward of Meifod already suffers flooding on occasions.

• The displacement of birds and other impact to the environment, such as the destruction of large areas of forest.

• The concerns for health and the strong indicators that such developments are contrary to health.

• The impact of transport movements and large loads on roads, buildings, people and wildlife.

• The damage to tourism from loss of visual amenity resulting in  job losses.
